Booking Alternative Accommodations in Toronto

Delegates may choose to book accommodations in Toronto other than the Sheraton Toronto Centre Hotel, Strathcona Hotel or the Eaton Chelsea Hotel.

Please note the World Conference on Online Learning does not endorse any hotels other than our three host hotels, nor does it have preferred rates at any other hotels.

A large number of Toronto hotels can be found on travel websites such as booking.com, hotels.com, expedia.ca or through the use of travel agents. Options may also be available through services such as Airbnb. Delegates use such services at their own discretion and risk and the World Conference on Online Learning is not liable for any issues with the use of alternate services to book accommodations.

Should delegates choose to book accommodations at other venues, please keep the following items in mind:

  1. Carefully review recommendations and reviews from guests on websites (booking.com, expedia.ca, etc.) or from travel agents before booking any accommodation.
  2. Although some hotels may be a short distance from the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel (venue for all conference activities), actual travel time by taxi or other mode of transport may be quite long if travelling during the Toronto morning and afternoon rush hour traffic. Toronto is a large city with a lot of traffic moving in and out of the downtown area all day long where the venue is located.
  3. There are many hotels close to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Delegates choosing one of these options want to consider travel times to the World Conference venue and may consider the use of the UP Express Train which runs from Toronto Pearson International Airport to Toronto Union Station (central transit hub in downtown Toronto). The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel is a short walk or cab ride from Union Station.
  4. If considering other hotels located within the City of Toronto, look for venues located on a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway line or streetcar line which may provide a more cost-effective and faster trip to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
    • The Queen and St. Patrick subway stations are a short walk to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
    • The Queen streetcar line runs past the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel and is a good option for travellers.
    • The King, Dundas and College streetcar lines are also reasonable options, with a short walk to the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel from their stops on University Avenue.

Toronto also has an extensive bus network feeding into both the subway system and the street car lines.

Full information on the TTC subway system, street cars and buses is available at www.ttc.ca. There is a route planning tool to assist you in mapping your travel options.

Google Maps and Apple Maps also include information on Toronto transit options that can assist you in planning your travel using the TTC.

  5. Delegates considering accommodation options outside of the City of Toronto need to be mindful of travel time to the venue. Toronto Union Station is served by GO Transit, a commuter rail service bringing people from outside of Toronto into and out of the downtown area throughout the day and evening. Look for accommodations located along a GO Transit line as this is an efficient and cost-effective means of travel into the downtown area. Be prepared for a walk or cab ride from your accommodations to the GO Transit station.
  6. The City of Toronto is well-served by a regulated taxi cab industry providing clean, safe rides at regulated prices. Uber is also licensed and is an option for transportation in the City of Toronto.
